Do I need to convert my CPL into a Philippines Civil Aviation Authority of Philippines (CAAP) License before undertaking Airbus A320 Type Rating with AAG?

Students without a valid Philippines CPL/IR License will need to undergo a license conversion preparation course and license conversion check-ride before commencing the Indian DGCA A320 Type rating course. Upon enrolling students will need to undertake a competency based solo flight (on the aircraft that they are rated on, in this case Cessna 172), which is part of the conversion preparation pack described later on.

Why do I need to complete the Conversion Preparation Course?

Students need to complete the Conversion Preparation Course as part of the requirements set by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP). CAAP require an approved Flight instructor to sign off a cadet’s competency before they can apply for the check-ride.

How many hours of competency based solo flight time do I need?

The minimum is 4 hours (which is part of the Conversion Preparation Course), based on AAG’s experience this could be between 4 to 12 hours.

Is the conversion preparation course included in the price for the Indian DGCA Airbus A320 Type Rating?

The course provides you with 2 hours of Cessna 172 flight time to familiarize yourself with the aerodrome, 2 hours of Alsim FNPT II Instrument Rating and 2 hours of check-ride. This course is priced at USD $1,299 and provides you the platform to obtain a second valid CPL license (you will have both the Indian and Philippines CPL license making you more attractive to future employers).

What if I do not successfully pass the competency flight check of the conversion preparation course?

If the student does not successfully pass the competency flight check, he/she will be offered additional training to bring them up to the required standard set by the aviation authority.

This will be at the expense of the student with AAG only charging a cost price’.

How long does it take the Philippine CAAP to convert my Indian DGCA CPL to a CAAP CPL so I can begin training?

Upon passing the check-ride with the Philippine authorities, the student will get issued a temporary license and can begin their Type rating training (Ground School), while the authorities prepare and issue the CPL license.

The issuing time can be reduced if AAG receive the students’ paperwork in advance.

Where will I stay during my training, and who will arrange it?

AAG will provide free accommodation up to 4 months.

This includes the week for the license conversion. If the conversion takes longer than a week the accommodation will be provided at a cost price.

AAG’s accommodation consists of students sharing a room with another member of their crew, providing they are of the same gender.

Where will I be trained for the Airbus A320 Type Rating?

The course will be conducted at AAG located in Clark, Philippines. Clark is well known as a tourist destination with its many activities and duty free zone.

What type of equipment is used?

The Airbus A320 Level D Full Flight Simulator is identical to the flight deck of an Airbus A320 aircraft, offers totally realistic training and is European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved.

So I get to fly an actual Airbus A320 Simulator?

Yes! AAG’s Airbus A320 Simulator holds the highest level of certification available and is the only simulator in the Philippines, which holds approvals from both European (EASA) and Philippine (CAAP) aviation authorities.
The Full Flight Device, is just like being in the cockpit of an actual A320, with life like visuals as if you were flying the real thing. Take a flight to Hong Kong, Seoul or Dubai using the state-of-the-art software embedded into the simulator.

Do you outsource any of your training?

No. Our own team delivers all aspects of the training package using our own equipment in Clark, as we are an approved Type Rating Training Organization.
